Pass Plus
What’s it all about?
Pass Plus is a training course aimed at new drivers during their first year of driving, though any driver can take the course. It was designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry. The aim is to help new drivers gain skills and experience on the road. Courses are run by local government. – to find your nearest, click here.
Why should I need it?
Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing their test, due to lack of driving experience. With Pass Plus, you can learn how to deal with situations that you’re likely to come across as a new driver. The course builds on your skills and knowledge. It will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, to help you become a more confident driver.
What are the key benefits?
As well as making you a safer driver, once you’ve gained a Pass Plus certificate, you can get a discount on your insurance, – whether thats’ third party, third
party fire and theft or fully comprehensive. If you don’t have a car at present, most insurers will accept the Pass Plus certificate for a full two years from the pass date. For a list of insurers who accept Pass Plus, click here
How do I apply and what does it cost?
